Iredell Health System is pleased to announce that Miles Atkins has accepted the role of executive director for the Iredell Health Foundation.
Atkins has worked for Iredell Health System since 2012 as the director of corporate affairs and government relations. He will continue in that role while also fulfilling the Foundation director position. Atkins served as mayor of the Town of Mooresville from 2011 to 2023.
During his time with Iredell Health, Atkins has been actively involved in assisting the Foundation’s efforts, helping to support grant writing and working on project development. As the executive director, he will cultivate relationships with patients and community members beyond the care they have received from the health system.
“I see the Foundation as an opportunity to get more of the community engaged with Iredell Health System to understand who we are and that we are the giving arm of the system,” said Atkins. “The Foundation provides a way for community members to get to know our healthcare organization on a different level.”
He hopes to create a philanthropic culture and an awareness of the many meaningful ways that philanthropic gifts touch and impact the health and wellbeing of the community served by Iredell Health System.
Atkins is a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science. His previous experience before beginning at Iredell Health System included a role in corporate health and network development for another healthcare organization. He and his wife Kim reside in Mooresville. They are the parents of a son, daughter and granddaughter who also reside in Mooresville.
In his free time, Atkins enjoys volunteering, working in his yard, exercising, traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with his family, particularly his granddaughter.
