Iredell County Sheriff Darren E. Campbell has been appointed to serve as chairman of the Executive Board of the N.C. Sheriffs’ Association.

The appointment was made during the 102nd Annual North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association Business Conference held on Sunday, July 28.

Campbell’s appointment comes on the heels of his service as president of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association from 2023 to 2024. During his tenure as president, he traveled across the state, representing all 100 sheriffs of North Carolina at various events and ceremonies. His leadership was instrumental in crafting legislation aimed at enhancing law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety and security of North Carolina’s citizens.

Now in his ninth year as sheriff of Iredell County, Campbell he also serves on the National Sheriffs’ Association Board of Directors, where he contributes to the Border Security Committee and School Safety and Security Committee.

In his new role as chairman of the Executive Board, Campbell will continue working to support law enforcement agencies across the state while advocating for policies that promote the safety and well-being of all North Carolinians.
