FROM STAFF REPORTS

The mission of Carolina Farm Trust is to strengthen the local food system in the Carolinas.

It couldn’t get more local than it did Tuesday evening for the Second Annual Dinner on West Broad Street, which featured locally sourced ingredients in a nine-course meal.

Tables stretched down West Broad, as diners enjoyed dishes like grilled filet medallions, smoked chicken, roasted carrots with hot honey, and fruit tarts.

The Carolina Farm Trust works to bring fresh, locally-grown food to the plate, whether that’s in the home, a restaurant, or a commercial vendor.

The goal of Tuesday’s dinner was to raise awareness and support local and urban farmers, nutrition education, and land conservation.

“We’re doing our best to make it easier to increase the availability of locally sourced food,” said Zack Wyatt, president of Carolina Farm Trust. “Life is all about breaking bread and being with community.”

The restaurants participating in Tuesday’s dinner were Knife; Southern Science BBQ; Angeline’s; CFT Market; Jimmy Pearls; On the Nines; 220 Cafe and Your Braisen Chef.
