More than 6,000 Iredell County residents cast their ballots on Thursday, during the first day of in-person early voting for the November 5 general election.

Elections officials said dozens of voters were in line when the Board of Elections Office in Statesville, one of five early voting locations throughout the county opened Thursday morning.

By the time the first day of in-person early voting ended, a total of 6,373 ballots had been cast.

Residents who are not registered to vote can register and vote at all five early voting locations throughout Iredell County through Saturday, November 2.
