EnergyUnited continues its strong commitment to provide disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which devastated parts of Western North Carolina. In a combined effort to aid recovery, EnergyUnited, its employees and the EnergyUnited Foundation have donated $41,000 to support disaster relief in Western North Carolina.

EnergyUnited employees contributed $11,000, while EnergyUnited donated $5,000 to the Human Connections Fund, which offers support for those affected by natural disasters and is managed by North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives. In addition to these donations, the EnergyUnited Foundation contributed $25,000 to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization with a proven track record of providing effective disaster relief.

In addition to the financial contributions, EnergyUnited also sent a team of more than 100 employees and contractors, including linemen and field support personnel, to assist with rebuilding and restoration efforts in the hardest-hit areas. These crews are working closely with other cooperatives in the region to help restore power and provide critical support.

“The cooperative spirit is about more than delivering energy. It’s about serving people, especially during times of need,” said Thomas Golden, chief executive officer of EnergyUnited. “The generosity of our employees, the contributions from the EnergyUnited Foundation and the dedication of our crews reflect this spirit. Together, we are proud to show our commitment to supporting recovery efforts in Western North Carolina.”

EnergyUnited will continue to monitor rebuilding efforts and collaborate with electric cooperatives in Western North Carolina to help restore the hardest-hit areas.

About the EnergyUnited Foundation

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded non-profit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. More than 82,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
