EnergyUnited officials expressed their appreciation of members for their patience and understanding after Tropical Storm Debby impacted the cooperative’s service area on Thursday.
Numerous members posted positive comments and thanked crew members for their tireless efforts in restoring power safely and quickly. The storm, which caused severe damage across EnergyUnited’s service area, led to downed trees, power lines, and more than 35 broken poles.
The storm’s impact was widespread, affecting more than 12,000 EnergyUnited members across 19 counties. Strong winds and heavy rain caused severe flooding and poor ground conditions, resulting in widespread power outages for those who were in the storm’s path.
The damage required a well-coordinated response to ensure power was restored safely and quickly.
“I am incredibly grateful to our members for their patience and understanding during our storm recovery efforts,” said Steve McCachern, vice president of energy delivery for EnergyUnited. “The safety of our community and our crews was our top priority throughout the restoration process. I am also thankful for the support that we received from five electric cooperatives and three contractors who provided 24 mutual aid crews to assist our restoration efforts.”
