Personnel from Shepherds Volunteer Fire Department, along with Mooresville, Troutman, Mount Mourne, Lake Norman, South Iredell, Davidson, and Denver fire fighters and the Sherrills Fords fire boat, all responded to a second alarm fire on High Hills Drive about 10:17 p.m. on Saturday.

Fire fighters battled the blaze in the large home on Lake Norman for several hours. Highway 150 was closed in both directions as fire fighters had a water supply line stretched across the roadway. 

Two occupants of the home escaped the fire uninjured.

The home was heavily damaged, and the cause is under investigation.
