The Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and Day of Service in Troutman begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12. There is still time to register.

Participants will meet at the Career Academy & Technical School, located at 350 Old Murdock Road in Troutman, at 8:30 a.m. for a ceremony and enjoy a free breakfast, followed by a community service project.

Former NFL player Eugene Robinson will be the speaker. Robinson played 16 years in the National Football League, including three Super Bowls and one win in 1996. He has also played in three Pro Bowls. He is currently ranked 12th on the all-time interception list with 57.

Robinson lives in Charlotte with his wife of 29 years, Gia. They have two adult children, Brittany and Brandon. In addition to being co-host of WCNC’s Charlotte Today, Robinson currently works as a Broadcast Analyst for the Carolina Panthers and as a high school football, wrestling and track coach at Charlotte Christian High School.

He is a member of the NFLPA alumni association in Charlotte. He first came to Christ on June 10, 1984, and does some preaching and motivational speaking to charities, churches and other civic organizations throughout the Carolinas.

Community members can join the celebration of King’s legacy for both the breakfast and service project or just one or the other.
