Iredell County has hired Rodney Harris to serve as assistant county manager. He will begin work on April 22.
Harris has served as deputy county manager for Cabarrus County since 2019, helping oversee day-to-day operations. He began his career in local government with Mecklenburg County as an enterprise management analyst before being promoted to director of business and financial management and procurement manager. He also served as financial manager for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
“Rodney’s vast knowledge and experience in county government makes him the perfect addition to the administrative team,” County Manager Beth Mull said.
Harris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as a certificate for participation in the North Carolina Municipal and County Administration Course and Public Executive Leadership Academy through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is a Certified Local Government Finance Officer, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and an active participant in professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), and North Carolina City and County Management Association (NCCCMA).
