Personnel from Trinity, Ebenezer and Monticello volunteer fire departments, along with Iredell County EMS and Rescue Squad, responded to a structure fire off Harriet Lane near Statesville about 7 a.m. Friday.

Smoke could be seen from a distance and arriving units were met with heavy smoke and fire showing from the single-story structure. Crews stretched multiple hose lines from Trinity Engine #1 and made an aggressive attack on the fire.

One fire fighter suffered chest pains and was transported to the hospital, along with a woman suffering from smoke inhalation.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family of three adults and four children who live in the home.

The house sustained significant damage. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
