Personnel for South Iredell Fire – Rescue along with Mooresville, Shepherds, Mount Mourne and Atwell fire departments responded to a structure fire off Oak Brook Drive near Mooresville on Wednesday morning.

After being dispatched about 9:30 a.m., arriving units were met with heavy smoke coming from the one-story structure.

Crews stretched one hose line and began fighting the fire while additional crews searched the structure for occupants. Additional units stretched another hose line and assisted in extinguishing the fire. The fire caused heavy damage to the structure, rendering it uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
