Iredell Adult Day Services in Statesville held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate a new service offering.

The nonprofit is now licensed as an adult day health program. The license allows Iredell Adult Day Services “to care for individuals who may need assistance with activities of daily living.”

Formerly known as ElderCenter, the agency is partnering with Newton‘s EveryAge to serve those 55 and up.

Program Director Debbie Howell said it “made my heart happy” to see how many came out to participate in the event.

Planning for the new service started in September 2023 when the board decided to incorporate healthcare to the agency’s offerings.

This new license allows the agency to offer health care monitoring, education, assistance, and counseling to participants and caregivers. It will also allow the center to provide services to a greater number of frail seniors who need support during the day, granting their caregivers respite and the opportunity to live and work more freely.

Every Age CFO Aimee Reimann said the partnership’s been a “labor of love.”

Iredell Adult Day Services specializes in senior care for memory-impaired diagnoses such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, TBI, stroke, and other learning disabilities.
