The Iredell Arts Council will host the 2nd Annual Street Concert on Saturday, May 11, promising an evening filled with electrifying performances and vibrant community spirit. This year’s event will feature the sensational sounds of Cha Wa, straight from the bustling streets of New Orleans.
The concert will be held in front of the Iredell Arts Council, located at 203 S Meeting Street in Statesville. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs.
Insomniacs will kick off the festivities at 5 p.m., delivering their infectious rap and R&B beats.
“We are thrilled to be part of this incredible event and share the stage with Cha Wa. It’s going to be an electrifying night that you don’t want to miss! As a local group, we understand the importance of collaboration, both horizontal and vertical, when increasing the vitality and culture of a community. This concert is not just about music; it’s about celebrating diversity, honoring our heritage, and fostering unity through the universal language of music,” said Tevin Carr, CEO of Insomniacs.

Cha Wa is not just a band; they are a force of nature, seamlessly blending the infectious beats of brass bands with the rich tradition of Mardi Gras Indians. Their music pulsates with energy and passion, reflecting the vibrant spirit of their hometown.
Their latest album, “My People,” stands as a testament to resilience and joy, earning them a Grammy nomination. Each track is imbued with the essence of New Orleans, from funky rhythms to soulful lyrics. Drummer Joe Gelini describes their music as inherently about freedom, a message that resonates deeply in today’s world.
Aside from the spectacular music lineup, attendees can indulge in the delectable offerings from Ember Craft Fusion and Kreyol Flavors food trucks, along with the refreshing brews from Red Buffalo Brewing, all conveniently available onsite.
