The Iredell Arts Council will bring the inspiring story of an American hero to the stage for four days in July when it presents “Ben Davis — Watch Him Fly.”

This riveting one-man show, starring J. Leon Pridgen II, delves deep into the remarkable journey of Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr., from his leadership of the 99th Pursuit Squadron to his pivotal role commanding the 332nd Bombardment Group, famously known as the Tuskegee Airmen or Red Tails.

The play highlights Gen. Davis’s heroic actions during World War II and also explores the personal challenges that shaped his character. Audiences will gain insight into his relentless pursuit of military integration and his significant contributions to American society beyond his military career.

Performances will be held at the Iredell Arts Council, located at 203 S. Meeting Street in Statesville, on July 11-14 . Shows on July 11-13 begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. A Sunday matinee will be held on July 14 at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.
