The following cases were disposed of during recent terms of Iredell County Superior Court and H & I Felony District Court:
♦ Charles Gilmore pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm by Felon and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 25-39 months plus 20-33 months in prison.
♦ Dydrion Leach pleaded guilty to Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 38-58 months in prison.
♦ Daniel Miller pleaded guilty to Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 15-30 months in prison followed by 25-42 months suspended.
♦ Zion Roberts pleaded guilty to Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 18-31 months in prison.
♦ Kapetra Simpson pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm by Felon and was sentenced to 19-32 months suspended with an active split sentence of 90 days in jail.
♦ Nickolas Whitson pleaded guilty to Felony Conspiracy to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 14-26 months suspended.
♦ Garfield Wilson pleaded no contest to Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 17-30 months suspended.
♦ Jason Wojciechowski pleaded guilty to Level 1 Trafficking in Opium/Opioid and was sentenced to 70-93 months in prison and was ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.
♦ Amanda Wolowitz pleaded guilty to Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 6-17 months suspended.
♦ Kevin Morrison pleaded guilty to Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 10-21 months in prison.
♦ Chris Dipace pleaded guilty to Obtaining Property by False Pretenses and was sentenced to 6-17 months suspended.
♦ Rodney Miller pleaded guilty to Felony Flee to Elude Arrest and was sentenced to 4-14 months suspended.
♦ Caleb Pender pleaded guilty to Assault by Strangulation and was sentenced to 6-17 months suspended.
♦ Nevada Campbell pleaded guilty to Embezzlement and was sentenced to 5-15 months suspended.
♦ Alicia Wellington pleaded guilty to Felony Possession of Cocaine and was sentenced to 3-13 months suspended.
♦ Kyshaleigh Sloan pleaded guilty to Felony Possession of Marijuana and was sentenced to 5-15 months in prison.
♦ Michael Raymer pleaded guilty to Felony Breaking or Entering, Felony Breaking or Entering Motor Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was sentenced to 9-20 months plus 5-15 months suspended.
♦ Herbert Morrison pleaded no contest to Second-Degree Arson and Felony Cruelty to Animals and was sentenced to 26-44 months in prison.
♦ William Clarke pleaded guilty pursuant to Alford to two counts of Sex Act by Substitute Parent and was sentenced to two consecutive sentences of 30-96 months in prison. He was ordered to register as a sex offender, and the Court issued a permanent no-contact order with the victim.
♦Tiffany Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of Identity Theft and was sentenced to 17-30 months suspended with an active split sentence of 28 days in jail.
♦ Rodney Assalone pleaded guilty to Dissemination of Obscene Material and was sentenced to 4-14 months suspended.
♦ Timothy Akers pleaded guilty to Felony Larceny after Breaking or Entering and was sentenced to 12-24 months in prison.
♦ Rahnard Hall pleaded guilty to Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 51-74 months in prison.
♦ James Borders pleaded guilty to Habitual Impaired Driving and was sentenced to 17-30 months suspended with an active split sentence of 12 months in prison.
♦ Tosha Guin pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm by Felon and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 12-24 months suspended.
♦ Nelson Valenzuela pleaded guilty to Injury to Personal Property and was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
♦ Charles Gibbs pleaded guilty to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine and was sentenced to 12-24 months suspended.
♦ Brian Blackburn pleaded guilty to Alter/Destroy Evidence and was sentenced to 6-17 months suspended.
♦ Connie Taylor pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm by Felon and Possession of Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 15-27 months suspended. She also pleaded guilty to Driving While Impaired and was sentenced to 120 days suspended.
Every week I read the court proceedings. WHAT AND WHY IS MOST OF THE SENTENCES SUSPENDED? Can someone explain that? I would really hate to be LEOs with that happening week after week. They do their job and then the court just sends them through the revolving door. SMH
