Two Mooresville firefighters were treated at a local hospital on Tuesday for injuries sustained while on the scene of a large debris fire.

Mount Mourne Fire Department personnel and nearby departments were dispatched at 11:52 a.m. for what was initially reported as a structure fire at 130 Ritchie Foam Lane.

Arriving crews found a large outside debris fire, and a second alarm was broadcast due to the size of the fire, according to a Mount Mourne Fire Department news release.

The fire was extinguished by 12:36 p.m.

Assisting agencies included Mooresville Fire-Rescue, South Iredell Fire-Rescue, Davidson Fire Department, Cornelius-Lemley Fire-Rescue, Iredell County EMS, Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office, Iredell County Emergency Management and the Mooresville Police Department.

The two MF-R firefighters were treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The fire is being investigated by the Iredell County Fire Marshals Office.
