A juvenile has been charged after the Mooresville Fire Marshal’s Office and Mooresville Police Department investigated a dumpster fire.
Mooresville Fire-Rescue was dispatched at 6:34 p.m. on April 5 to a reported dumpster fire in the area of 128 Talbert Road. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a commercial dumpster on fire. They quickly extinguished the fire and contained it to the dumpster. No other damage was reported.
The Mooresville Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to investigate the fire and determined it was intentionally set. The Fire Marshal’s Office requested MPD’s assistance. As part of the investigation, authorities viewed a video which showed a male setting a dumpster on fire.
On April 29, with the assistance of MPD detectives, Fire Marshal’s Office personnel identified the male as a juvenile. During questioning, the juvenile confessed to setting the dumpster on fire. The juvenile is charged with burning of personal property.
Mooresville Fire-Rescue and the Fire Marshal’s Office expressed their appreciation for the Mooresville Police Department for its assistance in this case.
