Love United Iredell provides an opportunity for residents to have an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
The annual United Way of Iredell County initiative, which runs throughout February, seeks to provide local nonprofits with money and volunteers to help local students, families and veterans who need a hand up.
The 2024 campaign features 10 low-cost, short-term projects that require minimal funding.
All of the projects and nonprofits – chosen from 20 applications — have been vetted by the United Way.
“We felt like these were the best organizations that match the mission of project-based fundraising for the United Way,” said Jody Taylor, the director of marketing and digital engagement for the United Way of Iredell County.
Here are this year’s projects:
♦ Food4Days will provide up to 1,296 meals for students who live in food insecure homes in Iredell County. ($2,500)
♦ Iredell County Friends of the Library will provide incentives for children who complete the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. ($1,000)
♦ Mooresville Kindness Closet will provide hygiene products and household items for homeless students in the Mooresville Graded School District. ($2,500)
♦ Pharos Parenting will provide a 10-week parenting class for Iredell County fathers. ($1,500)
♦ Purple Heart Homes will construct a wheelchair ramp for an aging or disabled veteran. ($5,000)
♦ Rainbow Kidz will provide materials, including journals and craft supplies, for grieving children. ($3,000)
♦ Hope of Mooresville will purchase shelves for new temporary housing. ($700)
♦ Village Intervention Partnership will rent venues for meeting/entertainment for teens served by the nonprofit. ($1,500)
♦ Fifth Street Ministries will fund food delivery for vulnerable community members through the Ride United Last Mile Deliver program. ($1,500)
♦ Insomniacs will provide scholarships to 10 children to attend the Hypknotics Summer Camp. ($1,500)
The total amount requested by the nonprofits is $21,200. The projects could benefit up to 12,000 people, providing a great return on investment.
