Hollowell, who lives in Clayton, will represent the State of North Carolina at the upcoming Miss America’s Teen competition.

“Having started in the organization eight years ago as a Carolina Star, and now as a Teen, I can’t wait to empower teens across the state as well as the next generation of Stars,” Hollowell said. “I have a story, and I am ready to share it.”

During the competition, Hollowell promoted her community service initiative of Project Purple: Advocating for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis and performed a fast-paced clogging routine to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

Earlier this week, she was awarded the Preliminary Evening Gown Award worth $250. In addition to the Miss North Carolina’s Teen title and associated $7,500, she also won the Community Service Impact scholarship, worth $500. The results were the culmination of a week-long competition as part of the Miss North Carolina Organization’s Miss North pageant.

“Kamryn is an exciting addition to the legacy of our Teen program, and having witnessed her growth through our system, I know the potential she has,” said State Director of Miss North Carolina’s Teen John Norris. “We look forward to seeing all she’ll do during her reign.”

The Miss North Carolina’s Teen court and scholarships earned included:

♦ 4th Runner Up ($1,000): Miss Queen City’s Teen, Hayden Pearson;
