Special to IFN
Mooresville Arts has two new exhibits on display and just in time for the holiday season.
Rhythm & Hues, an Exhibit inspired by Music, and the Recreating the Masters Members’ Exhibit will be on display in the Depot through January 2, 2025.
An artists’ reception will be held on Friday, November 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome.
Rhythm & Hues
The Rhythm & Hues Exhibit is being showcased in the Depot’s Center Gallery. Thirty-seven local and regional artists are participating in this show. Participating artists were challenged to create a piece of work with the theme of music in mind. A variety of subjects and styles are included in this exhibit, and this is a multimedia exhibit featuring paintings and drawings, photography, fiber arts, pottery and mixed media.
Participating Artists include: Traci Arney, Nina Brode Everson, Cary Caldwell, Linda Cole, Meg Crowley, Anne Curlis, Suzy Czerwinski, Carleen Davis, Jessica DeHart, Elizabeth Delatorre, PK Donson, Karl Dueland, Janet Dyer, Sandy Eaton, Deepa Gopinath, Maryjo Gunning, Dixon Handshaw, Ida Irby, Irene Jahns, Elijah Kell, Helen Langhorne, Catherine Mainous, Dan McCrary, Robin McGuirt, Christopher McIntosh, Matthew Micolucci, Ellen Patterson, Brenda Pokorny, Maria Register, Michael Ritzie, Lynda Santoni, Ani Todd, Tina Vincent, Paula Del Viola, Janet Visser, Nicole Weldy, and Clayton Young.
Recreating the Masters
The Recreating the Masters Members’ Exhibit has been installed in the Depot’s Skylight Gallery. Twenty-five Mooresville Arts members are featured in this group exhibit. These “master artists” were pre-selected, and each member was assigned a master artist. Members then created a new piece of work, in response to and in recreation of their master artist’s style, subject matter and/or medium. This too is a multimedia exhibit, showcasing paintings and drawings, photography and digital art, mixed media, clay and more. This is an amazing showcase of contemporary art and master artists!
Participating Artists (and their master artist assignments) include: Traci Arney (David Hockney), Sandie Bell (Romero Britto), Meg Crowley (Berthe Morisot), Carleen Davis (Marc Chagall), Pascale Doxy (Giovanni Garzoni), Sandy Eaton (Alexander Calder), Ed Harris (Augusta Savage), Leighton Isaacs (John Singer Sargent), Helen Langhorne (Helen Frankenthaler), Brad Lephew (Andrew Wyeth), Peggy McBride (Andy Warhol), Christopher McIntosh (Pablo Picasso), Marcy Murphy (Edgar Degas), Kathy Murray (Wassily Kandinsky), Barbara O’Reilly (Henri Matisse), Peter O’Reilly (Grant Wood), Amy Pennell (Helma af Klint), Brenda Pokorny (Yayoi Kusama), Michael Ritzie (Frances Benjamin Johnston), Mark Stephenson (Rembrandt), Patrick Turner (Dorothea Lange), Tina Vincent (Romare Bearden), Joyce Vukela-Mayer (Frank Stella), Kathy Weiss (Georges Seurat), and Nicole Weldy (Grandma Moses).
