Special to IFN

The Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) recently made charitable contributions to The Christian Mission and Mooresville Arts. Proceeds from The Shamrocks & Shenanigans and Uncorked & Artsy were donated to the local nonprofit organizations.

The Shamrocks & Shenanigans event raised $2,000 to benefit The Christian Mission’s Substance Use Support Program. This marks the third consecutive year that donations have been directed to The Christian Mission through this event.

With a turnout of over 12,000 attendees in Downtown Mooresville, this year’s Shamrocks & Shenanigans event was the largest one yet.

“I am so appreciative of the donation the Mooresville Downtown Commission made to The Christian Mission’s Substance Use Support Program,” TCM Peer Support Specialist Sandy Tabor-Gray said. “The funds raised during Shamrock and Shenanigans go directly to anyone who comes to TCM seeking help with their substance use recovery.”

The MDC has partnered with Mooresville Arts for Uncorked & Artsy since its launch in 2017. The $2,000 contribution from this year’s event increased the total amount raised from the annual event to over $20,000.

“Our board and staff appreciate the ongoing partnership with the Mooresville Downtown Commission,” said Brenda Kadlecik, Mooresville Arts education director. “For several years we have worked side-by-side to bring an amazing event, Uncorked & Artsy, to downtown Mooresville which supports the arts and local businesses. We are thankful for the generous donation we have been given. We look forward to the October Uncorked & Artsy and the continuous engagement with the community.”

Held each spring and fall, Uncorked & Artsy features wine and craft beer tastings at multiple Downtown Mooresville businesses. The event features live music and regional artists, who display and sell their works along Broad & Main streets. The next event is scheduled for October 4 with online ticket sales beginning mid-September on the Downtown Mooresville website. Proceeds will again benefit Mooresville Arts.
