Mooresville Police Chief Ron Campurciani discusses a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman.

The Mooresville Police Department is asking the public for their assistance in the investigation of a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Mooresville woman.

Shaelyn Ellen Bell was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Rocky River Road between Milroy Lane and Royalton Road, due to injuries sustained during the crash.

Investigators believe she was hit by a white Kia Seltos between 11:30 p.m. and midnight Saturday as she walked along Rocky River Road, Police Chief Ron Campurciani said during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Her boyfriend reported her missing and subsequently found her on the road side, the chief said.

The front end of Kia SUV, believed to be a 2023-2025 model, was found at the scene.
