Special to IFN

More than 20 students recently graduated from Mitchell Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Program this summer.

BLET is designed to give students the essential skills required for entry-level employment as a law enforcement officer with state, county and municipal governments, as well as private enterprise.

Mitchell’s BLET program utilizes state commission-mandated topics and methods of instruction. Students must successfully complete and pass all units of study, which include the certification examination mandated by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the N.C. Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission, in order to receive a certificate.
