Four suspects were apprehended by Mooresville police officers following two vehicle chases and foot pursuits early Thursday morning.

About 4:22 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Legacy Village subdivision in response to a report that vehicles were being broken into, according to an MPD news release.

When officers arrived in the area, they observed four suspects fleeing the scene in a stolen 2018 Audi.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it became disabled, police said. All four suspects fled the vehicle on foot into a wooded area of West Wilson Avenue near Hillside Drive, according to the news release.

While officers were in the early stages of a land search, which included the MPD Special Response Team, three of the four suspects were observed fleeing the Bradford Glenn subdivision in a stolen 2021 Kia, police said.

The suspects were again pursued by MPD officers until the vehicle crashed at a high rate of speed while attempting enter Interstate 77 southbound at Exit 33, police said. All three suspects, who were apprehended after a short foot pursuit, were transported to Atrium Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of injuries.

The fourth suspect, who remained on foot in the wood area of West Wilson Avenue near Hillside Drive, was apprehended a short time later, police said.

An MPD officer who sustained a head injury while taking one of the resisting suspects into custody was treated and released at CMC Main.

During the early stages of the investigation, the suspects have been linked to more than 30 motor vehicle break-ins, the possession of three stolen motor vehicles, and the larceny of firearms, all of which have been recovered, according to the news release.
