A Charlotte man faces several charges after being apprehended by Mooresville Police Department officers following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase on Friday afternoon.
The MPD announced the arrest of Victor Miguel Richardson, 24, in a news release.
About 4 p.m. on Friday, Mooresville officers received a request for assistance from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department related to a black Ford Expedition entering MPD’s jurisdiction.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Richardson, was actively fleeing CMPD officers who were attempting to arrest him on a felony warrant. CMPD advised that Richardson was considered armed and dangerous.
MPD officers responded to the area of U.S. Highway 21 and Interstate 77 and made contact with the Ford Expedition as it exited I-77 onto U.S. 21 via Exit 33, and began to assist CMPD.
During the pursuit, Richardson’s vehicle struck a marked MPD patrol vehicle and a civilian vehicle, resulting in minor damage, police said. No injuries were reported.
The pursuit continued south on I-77 to the Sam Furr Road area, where stop sticks were successfully deployed, disabling the Ford Expedition.
Richardson jumped and ran from the vehicle prior to being apprehended by a MPD K9 during a brief foot pursuit, police said.
Richardson had an active warrant for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, according to the news release.
The Ford Expedition had been reported stolen earlier Friday in Mecklenburg County.
Shortly after Richardson was apprehended, MPD officers linked him to an active MPD investigation for misdemeanor larceny.
Richardson was is in the custody of the CMPD and has pending charges for felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor driving without an operator’s license and misdemeanor larceny.
