Mooresville Police Department Traffic Unit officers are investigating two traffic crashes over the weekend that resulted in four individuals, including two with serious injuries, being transported, to area hospitals.

About 11:58 a.m. on Sunday, MPD officers responded to a traffic crash in the 350 block of Cabarrus Avenue.

After arriving on scene, Officers discovered that the driver of a passenger car had crossed the center lane and collided head on with a small SUV. The driver and a passenger from the small SUV were transported for minor injuries.

The driver of the passenger car, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to CMC Main and remains in serious condition.

Driver impairment is suspected, and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.

About 7:53 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a reported traffic crash at the Interstate 77 northbound entrance on Highway 150 (Exit 36).

After arriving on scene, officers discovered that the driver of an SUV had made a left turn to enter I-77 northbound in front of a motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Highway 150. The motorcycle struck the SUV on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported to CMC Main and remains in serious condition.

MPD was assisted at the scene of these crashes by Mooresville Fire-Rescue and Iredell County EMS personnel.
