A Charlotte woman faces several charges in connection with a domestic violence incident in which a firearm was discharged several times, according to the Mooresville Police Department.
The MPD announced the arrest of Krista Charrisse Oates, 40, in a news release.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in which multiple shots were fired about 6:19 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
Officers spoke with the uninjured victim who reported that he was assaulted by Oates with a baseball bat before she at with a firearm, according to the news release. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, and the vehicle Oates used to flee the scene was located at her residence, police said.
Responding officers established a perimeter around the residence and activated the department’s Special Response Team, crisis negotiators, and Criminal Investigations Division to assist.
After negotiators contacted Oates by phone, she exited the residence and was taken into custody without at 8:23 p.m., police said. A search warrant was executed at the residence, and detectives located the firearm and bat used in the assault, according to the news release.
Oates was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor discharging a firearm in city limits, misdemeanor communicating threats, and felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance.
Oates was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. A magistrate ordered her held without bond.
