The N.C. Highway State Patrol has identified the man who was hit by an 18-wheeler in Mooresville early Wednesday morning.

Calvin Jay May, 63, of Greenville was fatally injured during the crash on Interstate 77 near Highway 150, authorities said.

The 18-wheeler was traveling south when it hit May, who was in the road and wearing dark clothing, according to the NCSHP.

No charges will be filed as there was no evidence that excessive speed or impairment were factors in the crash, authorities said.
