People danced and sand -in the streets in Downtown Statesville — and inside shops and galleries — on Friday as musicians performed at numerous locations for Make Music Day.

The event, which was sponsored by the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation and the Iredell Arts Council, is part of a day-long international celebration of all things music, from drumming in Pecan Park to concerts on stage at Depot Hill.
