Voters in Harmony, Love Valley elect mayors, board members

Three incumbent Iredell County commissioners were re-elected by a comfortable margin during Tuesday’s general election, according to unofficial results.

Gene Houpe was the top vote-getter with 60,632 votes, Melissa Neader was second (59,386) and Scottie Brown third (55,917). All three are Republicans.

Democrats Beverly Maurice (30.342) and Bryan Adams (25,891) finished third and fourth, respectively.

I-SS Board of Education

Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education member Doug Knight was re-elected Tuesday, along with newcomers Ronda Hoke and Kevin Angell, according to unofficial results. All three winners are Republicans.

Knight garnered 10,886 votes to easily defeat Democrat Jinaki Peele (4,232) in the District 6 race.

In the District 2 race, Angell received 7.194 votes to knock off Democrat Natalie Ramos (3,371)

Hoke received the support of 7,767 voters in District 4 to defeat Robert Thompson (3,144)

Town of Harmony

Sean Turner was elected mayor of Harmony. He received 221 votes. Write-in candidates garnered eight votes.

Scotty Harris (200 votes), Chris Pierce (164), Brandon Angell (155) and Jared Clark (151) won seats on the town council. Write-in candidates received nine votes.

Town of Love Valley

Timothy Meadows received 66 votes to win the mayoral race, defeating Randy Lackey, who garnered the support of 26 voters, according to unofficial results. Write-in candidates received six votes.

Five seats on the town commission were also up for grabs. Randy Ladd (66 votes), Terri Rufty (63), Elizabeth Ruddy (62) and Ted Davis (61) appeared to win four of the races. Write-in candidates received a total of 51 votes, and Phillip Baity garnered the support of 35 voters.
