Special to IFN

The Rotary Club of Greater Statesville celebrated the end of the Rotary year on Thursday, June 27.

Deb Corbett, the district governor for District 7680, was the special guest as several members were honored for their service to the club and the community.

Three members, Dr. Curtis Abell, Bill Wilson and Mark Wagner, were honored for 49 years of Rotary service and for being founding members of the Rotary Club of Greater Statesville.

Three new members were inducted at the meeting.

In addition, six Rotarians were recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, with three being honored for the first time. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of at least $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation advances world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

The Rotary Club of Greater Statesville meets on Thursdays at 12 noon at Twisted Oak American Bar & Grill. The Club welcomes anyone to attend a club meeting to learn more about Rotary and its service to the community.
