Special to IFN

Iredell County’s Safe Kids Coalition is holding a holiday cold weather drive to collect new children’s winter hats, gloves, socks and other winter wear items.

The annual effort begins Friday, November 1, and runs through Sunday, December 15.

Everyone is invited to make a difference by donating to the drive and helping Safe Kids give to children in need in our local community. Safe Kids is working with local organizations that serve children to provide winter wear items to those children with this specific need.

“It is important we stay ahead of the upcoming changing temperatures expected in Iredell County. Hosting this drive allows us to help families be prepared for the colder weather,” said Caroline Hager, coordinator of Safe Kids Iredell County. “A lot of our families in the community are currently struggling with the higher prices of everything. By providing these items to our families in need, we are trying to help make sure that no child will go cold this winter.”

Last year, the drive provided 150 winter hats, 476 pairs of socks, 230 pairs of gloves and 30 coats to children in Iredell County.
