The Statesville Fire Department battled a structure fire at the Wm. T. Burnett & Co. plant located at 2550 West Front Street on Monday.

Crews, who arrived on the scene around 11:46 a.m., were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the large manufacturing plant.

Fire fighters stretched lines into the building and to the roof, and additional crews searched the large building for anyone that might have still been in the building.

The fire was brought under control at 12:10 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Units from Monticello and Harmony fire departments also responded to the scene. SFD Chief Glenn Kurfees was in command of the operation, which was terminated at 2:18 p.m.with the building being turned over to the management.
