Shepherds Fire-Rescue held its annual awards dinner on Saturday, January 6, at Fire Station 1 on Charlotte Highway.
Several men and women were honored for their outstanding contributions to the department and the community during 2023.
Three members — Matt Kraszewski, Dylan Thompson and Carmen DeAndrea Jr. — received a Lifesaving Award for their efforts when responding to a medical call that turned into a cardiac arrest. The crew performed CPR and revived the victim, who was able to go home the next day.
The Fire Fighter of the Year Award was presented to Evelyn Lopez for her dedication to the department and community.
Captains Awards were given to Fire Fighters Terence Schild, Connor Ryken and Timothy Carroll for their commitment to the department and community.
Employee of the Year Award was presented to Engineer Tayler Thompson (who was not present).
Officer of the Year was given to Chief Kelly Robinson for his relentless and unselfish commitment to the department and to his community.
The Shepherds Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for men and women who want to help serve their community.
