A Statesville man faces felony drug charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Devon Joseph Jacquet, 35, of Gay Street, Statesville, in a news release Tuesday. Jacquet was on probation for a previous drug conviction at the time of his arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after receiving numerous complaints about suspected drug activity at Jacquet’s residence, Campbell said.
Narcotics investigators initiated surveillance of the property and identified Jacquet as the main suspect, according to the news release. Undercover investigators purchased cocaine directly from Jacquet at the residence during the investigation, the sheriff said.
On Friday, August 9, narcotics investigators, along with members of the ICSO SERT Team, executed a narcotics search warrant at 1957 Gay Street. When the warrant was executed, Jacquet and several individuals were found inside and outside of the residence.
All these individuals were secured without incident. A search of the property located 23 grams of cocaine, two dosage units of ecstasy, and approximately 29 grams of marijuana, Campbell said. The street value of the seized narcotics is estimated at $2,947.
Jacquet was arrested on scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. Based on his criminal history and the nature of the charges, Magistrate Imes ordered Jacquet held without bond pending a court appearance.
“This ongoing investigation was initiated by information from the community who are determined to put an end to repeat and career criminals continuing to deal drugs after being arrested time and time again,” Campbell said. “The Sheriff’s Office will continue this work, diligently following up on and investigating all the information we receive from our community partners to ensure that these criminals are held accountable.”
This is the second time a search warrant has been executed at this residence, leading to the arrest of Jacquet. On April 28, 2022, a similar investigation resulted in his arrest for Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine.
