A man faces several criminal charges related to the assault of his ex-wife and their daughter following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Oscar Orlando Calderon-Navarro, 26, of Island Forest Lane, Mooresville, in a news release Monday. 

ICSO patrol deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a home off Island Forest Lane near Mooresville on Saturday, September 14.

When the deputies arrived at the home, they spoke with a woman who reported that she and her 3-year-old daughter had been physically assaulted by her ex-husband, identified as Calderon-Navarro.

The suspect had already left the scene, reportedly heading to Charlotte in a 2004 Toyota Tundra registered to the victim, according to the news release.

Based on evidence collected in this investigation, arrest warrants were obtained charging Calderon-Navarro with misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor assault on a child under age 12, misdemeanor false imprisonment, misdemeanor child abuse, and misdemeanor domestic violence.

Calderon-Navarro was entered as a wanted person in a crime database by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, September 30, Calderon-Navarro turned himself in at the Iredell County Detention Center. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond by District Court Judge Bryan Corbett for the domestic violence-related charges involving his wife and daughter.
