A Cleveland man who was on federal probation for drug offenses faces new charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Desean Malik Millsaps, 34, of Shinville Road, Cleveland, in a news release Tuesday.
Earlier this month ICSO investigators received information that Millsaps was using both 137-B and 245 Garfield Street in Statesville to store and distribute controlled substances, Campbell said.
After conducting surveillance and making purchases directly from Millsaps, narcotics investigators obtained search warrants that were executed n February 16. according to the news release.
When the warrants were served, Millsaps was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and a firearm.
Millsaps, who was on probation for conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver crystal methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling for the sale or use of a controlled substance, felony alter, destroy or remove a serial number from a firearm and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.
Millsaps was taken into custody without incident, transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, and appeared before Magistrate P. Callejas, who issued a $200,000 secured bond on these charges.
ICSO investigators are working with federal probation officers to have Millsaps’ probation violated and have him returned to federal prison, Campbell said.
Very disappointing to even hear about this man being given a bond amount !!!! Never should’ve been out on probation either.
