Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Teresa Kiser Forrest, 62, and Sherry Kiser Jenkins, 61, in a news release Wednesday.

Deputy H. English stopped a vehicle occupied by two women on Woodbridge Road near the intersection of Loray Lane on June 21. While talking with the deputy, the women exhibited signs of extreme nervousness and provided conflicting information, according to the news release.

Sgt. Hodges arrived on the scene and walked Canine Levi around the vehicle. Levi gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, Campbell said.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a trafficking amount of oxycodone pills and Schedule IV and Schedule V Controlled Substances in a bag belonging to Jenkins, who was a passenger, accordingto the news release.

When Forrest was asked if she had anything on her person, she admitted that she did and pulled methamphetamine and Schedule IV controlled substances from her pocket, the sheriff said.

Forrest and Jenkins were then arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they were taken before Magistrate Hollar issue Forrest a $10,000 bond and Jenkins a $200,000 bond.

Forrest off Pratt Lane, Statesville, was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle to the Use of Narcotics, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jenkins of Loray Lane, Statesville, was charged with two counts of Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule IV a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule V Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

“Every ounce of drugs we remove from the streets makes a significant impact,” Campbell said. “Even the smallest amount taken out of circulation disrupts the supply chain and contributes to our ongoing efforts to combat the drug epidemic.”
