Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Robin Scott Gibson, 56, in a news release Tuesday. Gibson previously served time in federal prison on drug charges.

After the Sheriff’s Office received multiple tips from community residents about suspicious activity at Gibson’s home, the ICSO Narcotics Investigations Unit began an investigation, Campbell said.

During the investigation, detectives purchased crystal methamphetamine directly from Gibson at his residence and other locations in the community, according to the news release. Based on all of the evidence gathered in the investigation, the detectives obtained a search warrant for the home, Campbell said.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives found Gibson in possession of approximately 58.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 9 grams of fentanyl, along with assorted prescription pain medications, according to the news release.

Gibson was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with three counts of Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine, three counts of Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin, two counts of Felony Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, two counts of Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and two Counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Gibson appeared before Magistrate Russell, who ordered Gibson held without bond on these charges.

During this investigation, ICSO narcotics investigators seized a total of 138.25 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 9 grams of fentany. The estimated street value of the seizure is $14,765.

“This successful operation highlights the importance of community involvement in keeping our neighborhoods safe,” Campbell said. “We rely heavily on the eyes and ears of our residents.”

According to the ICSO, Gibson’s criminal history includes the following charges Felony Conspiracy to Manufacture and Distribute Methamphetamine, and Felony Conspiracy to Operate a Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab.
