A Statesville woman faces felony drug charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Patrice Torrence

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Patrice Antionette Torrence, 41, of East Cloaninger Avenue, Statesville, in a news release.

ICSO narcotics detectives were conducting surveillance at the Hallmark Inn, located at 2579 Davie Avenue, on August 10 in response to complaints of criminal activity when they observed suspicious behavior centered around a specific room at the motel.

Deputies assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team approached the room, made contact with the two occupants inside, and then conducted a search of the room. The search led to the discovery of cocaine, according to the news release.

One of the occupants, identified as Torrence, admitted to having rented the room, Campbell said. As a result, she was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Torrence was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She appeared before Magistrate Callejas, who set her bond at $5,000.00.

Campbell said the public played a key role in the investigation.

“When our community members see something that isn’t right and take the initiative to submit tips, it kick-starts investigations like this one,” the sheriff said. “These efforts are crucial in leading to the arrest of individuals who are selling drugs in our community. Together, we can make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.”
