A Mooresville man is charged with breaking into the Mount Mourne Fire Department and multiple vehicles that were parked on the department’s property.
Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Nicholas Allan Payret, 33, of Mackwood Road, Mooresville, in a news release Friday.
About 5:52 a.m. Thursday, ICSO deputies were dispatched to the fire department, located at 1577 Mecklenburg Highway, for a report of a breaking and entering in progress, the sheriff said.
The deputies quickly responded and located Payret inside the fire department, according to the news release. Payret was detained, and the deputies began their investigation.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Payret had broken into multiple vehicles and stolen items, Campbell said. He also damaged several items in and around the fire department, according to the news release.
Payret was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with First-Degree Felony Burglary, Felony Breaking, and Entering, two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, three counts of Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, and four counts of Misdemeanor Damage to Personal Property.
Payret appeared before Magistrate Russell, who issued a $102,500 secured bond on these charges.
