Three individuals face felony charges following an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation that culminated with a raid at a Statesville area motel on Monday.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Marcus Don Zimmerman, 41; Jeannie Rebecca Covington, 49; and Jeremy Eugene McGee, 42, in a news release Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, ICSO narcotics investigators and ACE Team deputies executed a search warrant in Room 219 of the Motel 6, located at 1137 Morland Drive, Campbell said.

After receiving information that Zimmerman was involved in methamphetamine distribution in the area, investigators initiated a surveillance operation and then purchased methamphetamine from Zimmerman in his hotel room, according to the news release.

While executing the search warrant, investigators seized approximately 24.24 grams of methamphetamine, valued at more than $2,400, from the room, Campbell said.

The three suspects were present when the warrant was executed.

Zimmerman was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for a Controlled Substance.

Covington was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for a Controlled Substance.

McGee was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

At the time of his arrest, Zimmerman was on pretrial release and wearing an ankle monitor related to an October 2 arrest on a charge of Assault by Strangulation. He may also face additional charges for violating a domestic violence protection order.

Zimmerman of Morland Drive, Statesville, received a $25,000 bond.

According to the ICSO, his criminal history includes the following charges: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Felony Possession of Heroin, Felony Obtain Property by False Pretense, two counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Sell Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Covington of Coolwood Drive, Statesville, received a $15,000 secured bond.

According to the ICSO, her criminal history includes the following charges, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Driving while License Revoked, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Shoplifting, two counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official, Driving while Impaired, and multiple traffic violations.

McGee, also of Coolwood Drive, Statesville, received a $5,000 secured bond.

According to the ICSO, his criminal history includes the following charges, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Official, Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Driving while License Revoked, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Shoplifting, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official, Driving while Impaired, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and multiple traffic violations. He is on probation for Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
