Two suspects face felony charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies found illegal narcotics in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Joshua Allen Williamson, 28, and Kadi Woodman Laws, 34, both of Payne Road in Stony Point, in a news release on Wednesday.

Williamson and Laws were traveling in a vehicle on Old Mountain Road on Sunday, July 7, when they were stopped by Lt. C. Little for a traffic violation, Campbell said.

Lt. Little and Deputy English, who arrived to assist with the traffic stop, spoke with the two suspects. Based on the answers provided to various questions, the deputies decided to search the vehicle, according to the news release.

During the search, the deputies discovered 73.03 grams of marijuana, 5.69 grams of methamphetamine, and various drug paraphernalia, Campbell said.

Williamson and Laws were immediately arrested.

Both suspects are charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine, and two misdemeanor drug offenses. Williamson was also charged with Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale and Use of a Controlled Substance.

The suspects were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate J. Hollar issued a $20,000 bond for Williamson and Laws.

“Our deputies are committed to ridding our county of drugs and ensuring the safety of our community,” Campbell sadi. “This arrest is a testament to their dedication and hard work.”
