Congressman Patrick McHenry on Friday announced that Mooresville resident Muhammad Fawwaz — a student at South Iredell High School — as the winner of the 10th District’s 2023 Congressional App Challenge.

Muhammad created The AI Eye, which is designed to support visually impaired individuals in their daily lives by assisting them in object identification and acknowledgment.

“I congratulate Muhammad on winning the 2023 App Challenge and I am proud to have his app representing the Tenth District,” Rep. McHenry said. “I commend him for taking advantage of cutting edge technology—artificial intelligence—to positively impact the lives of the visually impaired.”
