A Statesville man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Tasheka Reid Aleryani.
Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force took James Adrian Griffin Jr., 43, into custody on Friday after he was discharged from Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Griffin’s arrest was announced in a news release by the Statesville Police Department.
Griffin is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the death of Aleryani, 47, who died about 12 hours after she was shot at a home on Gay Street on Wednesday, March 13.
According to the SPD, Griffin and Aleryani were involved in an altercation inside a home in the 1900 block of Gay Street prior to Griffin shooting Aleryani.
Following his arrest, Griffin was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Magistrate Chambers ordered he be held without bond on the murder charge.
Griffin is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Monday, March 18.
