The Statesville Woman’s Club recently held an induction ceremony for new members at the club’s historic clubhouse. Twelve new members were recognized, including Debra Turner Bailey, Daughn Baker, Darla Corah, Andrea Gilbert, Chanika Graham, Tonie Lazenby, Janine Lewis, Mariah McDowell, Angie Minor, Robyn Needham, Sue O’Malley and Kimberly Wasson.

After the welcome by Club President Dana White, Club Chaplin Kim Mulrey lead a devotion about “Aprons,” then members and guests recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Salute to North Carolina Flag. Past President and Club Membership Team member Joanna Gaither and Club President Dana White presented an informative history presentation about the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the connection to the state, district and local club. They also gave seven keys which would help the new members serve the club.

After the presentation a candle was lit and the new members were called up to be recognized. Each new member was pinned by an established member, and they were given a certificate and a red rose. To conclude the meeting the members recited “A Collect for Club Women” by Mary Stewart.

NEXT MEETING

The next club meeting will be on Thursday, June 6, at the historic clubhouse located at 515 West End Avenue. This will be the last meeting before summer break and will include a special recognition of tenured members and confirmation of new officers. There will be a time of social fellowship at 11:30 a.m. and a meeting at 12 noon. All members, guests and interested women are invited to attend.
