Special to IFN
The Statesville Woman’s Club recently held its December meeting with a potluck meal and special guest entertainer Diana Fox (*aka “Miss Eufola”), a mature Southern lady with an old-fashioned wit and sense of humor. She shared her insights about living in the south.
The project focus for December, for the second year, was collecting unwrapped toys to help children in need in the community for Christmas. These items help make a significant difference by spreading holiday cheer to families in need. These gifts also bring joy to families who have faced financial hardships this past year.
The toys were given to the Statesville Police Department for the SPD’s Sixth Annual Toy Drive. Cpl. Chan Austin said this year’s toy drive helped around 500 kids, from newborns to 17 year olds. Members of the SPD played Santa’s elves and delivered the toys just in time to brighten the children’s faces on Christmas morning.
