Statesville Woman’s Club welcomes state president for installation of new officers

Tenured club members received special recognition and were presented tokens of appreciation by State President Karen Throckmorton.

The Statesville Woman’s Club recently held its June meeting at the club’s historic clubhouse on West End Avenue. At the meeting, State President Karen Throckmorton helped to install Community Service Team chairmen. This was also the last meeting before summer break with a fiscal year-end meeting and special recognition of tenured members who were presented tokens of appreciation.

CST chairmen who were installed were Arts and Culture chair Sue O’Malley; Community Impact chair Jennifer Griffith; and Education and Environment chair Deneen Wells.

Awards

Several members were recognized for years of membership. They included Sandra Landry, five; Shelley Arthur and Rita Tondo, six; Sandra Ball Poole, nine; Dana White, 10; Dedie Dooley, Frankie Epperson and Beth Webb, 11; Vickie Kidner and Wanda Rushton, 12; Deneen Wells, 13; Fran Baker and Lee Ann Sherrill, 16; Stephanie Gill, 18; Barb Thorson, 22; Deena Chambers, 28; Joanna Gaither, 29; Kim Mulrey, 33; Jennifer Griffith, 35; Mary Ann Rhodes; 37; Joyce Johnson, 38; Mickie Vacca, 43; Pat Smith, 48; Linda Lavinder, 49; and Janet Hall, 56.

Other awards presented included:

♦ Clubwoman with Heart: First Vice President, Shelley Arthur;
♦ Hidden Gem of the Year: Community Impact CST Chairman Jennifer Griffith; and
♦Gem of the Year: Second Vice President, Wanda Rushton.

Upcoming Events

“Wine Down Thursday!” is scheduled for August 15 at Wine Maestro in Downtown Statesville. Drop in from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All members and women interested in learning about the Statesville Woman’s Club are invited.

The next club meeting after the break will be on Thursday, September 6 at the historic clubhouse located at 515 West End Avenue. There will be a time of social fellowship at 5:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. All members, guests and interested women are invited to attend.
