The Troutman Police Department is investigating a break-in that occurred at the Dunkin Donuts on North Main Street early Monday morning.
Officers responded to the store at 205 North Main Street about 3:15 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a breaking and entering in progress, according to a TPD news release.
While officers were responding, an employee of the donut shop told dispatchers that her vehicle had been stolen during the incident, police said.
The employee told officers she heard glass shattering while she was working and then fled out the back door of the building, according to the news release.
Security camera footage shows that three suspects shattered the drive-thru glass window and entered the building, police said. All of suspects were wearing masks, according to the news release.
Police said it appears the suspects located the victim’s car keys during the break-in and stole her vehicle, a silver 2018 Hyundai Elantra.
The break-in is similar to recent incidents reported to the Statesville Police Department.
