The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has received hundreds of phone calls from residents reporting a possible scam in connection with suspicious phone calls, text messages and email.
After investigating the complaints, Sheriff’s Office personnel determined that the messages were actually a legitimate communication that originated in the Iredell County Emergency Communications and Iredell County Emergency Management departments as part of a new system implementation.
The message, which is related to the county’s transition to CodeRED, a messaging system that allows county officials to send messages to residents. Residents who are interested in signing up for the messages can do so at https://accountportal.onsolve.net/iredellcounty
The ICSO was not made aware of this message being sent prior to its distribution, according to an ICSO news release,
